Individual Development Plans
An IDP is a statutory document written for learners with ALN. Parents, learners, teachers and other agencies all contribute towards an IDP.
The complexity of an IDP will differ depending on the complexity of the needs of the individual, but all IDPs will have the following key information:
One Page Profile
Personal Details
An overview of the pupil’s needs
Information about the learner including comments from staff, parents and the pupil
Progress Tracking (Attainment)
Additional Learning Provisions (ALP)
Timeline of key events
Transition
Travel Arrangements
Our IDP’s are written in the ‘Tyfu’ platform. The platform is an online software which captures the full inclusion pathway journey for a pupil.
IDP Meetings and review
IDPs are reviewed annually, but can be reviewed at any time by parental request.
When we invite you for an IDP Review it is a good idea to think about the following to contribute to the writing of the IDP. Parents know their children the best, so it’s really important that you have time to think about your views to add into the document.
What do you appreciate about the young person?
What’s happened since the last review?
What are your aspirations for your child in the future?
What do people need to know to support your child?
What’s important to them?
What’s important for them?
What’s going well?
What needs to be improved?
It’s also a good idea to think about any support you think they might need beforehand so you can make the ALNCo aware during the meeting
